Mission and Philosophy

Mission statement


Purpose:  to support students, faculty, and staff in their work at SVSU, and to support colleagues in their efforts to do the same Activities

  • Maintain ordered collections to facilitate ease of access and retrieval [Circulation]
  • Supplement Zahnow Library resources by serving as intermediaries with other institutions and departments and delivering content to our faculty, staff and students [Resource Sharing]
  • Support instructional acitivities by providing access to supplementary instructional materials [Reserves]
  • Leverage unique matierals in our Archives to document SVSU's history and support scholarship for the common good [Archives and Special Collections]
  • Ensure coherence among the discrete elements of our various software programs, hardware, and subscription services, and to support those entrusted with their upkeep [Systems]

Values:  We acknowledge the sacrifices made by our students in their belief that coursework at SVSU will make a tangible and positive difference in their lives. We honor that sacrifice by committing to the best work to support their efforts.
