BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANT DETAILS
In May of 2018, after encountering another situation where a port was shut off on campus and service being taken offline ... we were tasked with putting together an extensive vendor port usage list, comprised of our 3 main vendors (Innovative, OCLC and Ebsco).
List was submitted to IT but there was concern on their end that the ports list was too extensive and it was not practical to keep all of those ports open.
In August of 2018 we were then tasked with putting together a much more thorough list, which would include port usage frequency, descriptions of each function that used them and concrete affirmations from the vendors themselves that we needed these ports 'open' for our existing setup.
Have also received input and examinations of what we are putting together by Heather Hillaker and Heather Fisher.
Here is the Library Library Vendor/Service Port Listing as of September 2018.
STATUSES
September 18th, 2018 - Ports listing is nearing completion. Just have two port questions that need to be confirmed by Innovative and then we can turn in to Department Heads. Ticket has been updated to Innovative, requesting their confirmation on the two ports. Also, will be reaching out to Larry to get detailed port usage listing from them on their end, as they see it without our info and using what diagnostics they have to match up the two discovery aspects from our side and theirs.
September 20th, 2018 - The final changes have been made on my end after Innovative's response this week. I have sent out an email to Larry Emmons, asking for a detailed report on port traffic from the IT aspect.
OPEN TICKETS
III - #683269 (Closed September 20th, 2018)
